It couples the certified high quality starting material (seeds, cuttings, propagating material protected by PVP/Plant Breeders Rights) to production and trade flows. In doing so it highlights the legal flow of production and produce. As a complement, the transactions not certified can be classified as “suspect”, requiring extra attention from inspection and verification offices.

The unique tools are fully certified and protect clients against unauthorized use or loss of sensitive data. It effectively boosts the operations to counteract infringement and marketing of counterfeit propagation material. The recognized high standard expertise and independent setting of SITRAC, combined with our user-friendly approach with client specific applications add to the trustworthiness and client satisfaction.

Plant seed industry and protection.

The seed industry and other companies active in production, propagation and distribution of plant material make high investments in creating new varieties with superior production and quality traits. Annually the worldwide seed industry trades about 3 billion euro in vegetable seed. Between 10% and 20% of the turnover is reinvested in breeding and innovation. New varieties are protected by Plant Variety Protection (PVP) under Plant Breeders’ Right (PBR). The full exploitation of the rights is needed to keep the constant innovation cycle going. Especially in horticulture new and improved varieties boost the innovation in the fresh supply chain and add to consumer satisfaction.
